REGGIES
In a reverse of fortune for the Reggie’s on Saturday, after losing the past two games by two points in the final minutes, the boars scored in last few seconds to steal a thrilling win over the Dalby diehards.
An error at the start of the game had the diehards scoring the first try of the match, from there the boars offence clicked into gear and took control of the match. Once in good field position a backline move had Jamal Woodbridge crossing out wide for a try.
With the forwards laying the platform, the backs were starting to find holes in the defence. A beautiful pass saw Derrick Craigie go through and score another long range try. Not long after Buster Wilson went over for another try. With Goondiwindi having all the ball, Dalby managed to score against the run of play before half time. The boars taking an 18 to 12 lead.
The second half turned into a real arm wrestle for the first 20 minutes, with not team able to mount any pressure. Brad frost left the field through injury and the boars lost their direction, Dalby was able to capitalise with a burst of try’s in ten minute span to take the an 8 point lead with five to go.
With the game looking like slipping away, Hayden Everingham took a run from dummy half and found himself deep within Dalby’s territory. The next few plays had Tom Andersen running onto a short ball and splitting the defence, fending off many defenders to crash over for an excellent try.
With the game looking all but over, Dalby found themselves with the ball coming off their own try line in the last minute of play. A forced mistake through a solid tackle spilled the ball loose and had the boars on the attack. The ball was shifted wide and Jamal Woodbridge evaded Dalby players on the sideline to cross for a try and steal a two point win on the siren. Boars 28 to Dalby 26

A GRADE
After pushing Dalby to the final siren last time they met, the boars were no match this time with a mounting injury toll and a few unavailable players taking the competitiveness out of the game.
Goondiwindi got off to a great start, with a backline move finding Ben bland on the inside to open the scoring. The game then went south for the boars, with too many errors costing them possession of the ball. The classy Dalby outfit made the boars pay, running in five try’s before halftime. Half time 24 to 4 to Dalby.
After half time the boars reset and got back into the game, a forced error had Goondiwindi on the attack and centre Ronnie David stepped his way over for a try. With the boars back on the front foot, a barnstorming run from prop Andrew Hoggart had the boars over again and close within ten points.
That’s as close as Goondiwindi could get, with the completion rate falling away as well as the score line. With way to many simple errors killing any chance of mounting a comeback and things got worse when a Goondiwindi player was put in the bin. Dalby running away with the game 44 to 14.
