Reggie’s
In another tough encounter with the Pittsworth Danes, the Reggie’s went down by two points for the second week in a row.
After a horror start to game, the boars found themselves on the back foot from the start with simple errors gifting the Danes field position. A dropped bomb and a one on one strip had the Danes scoring two try’s in quick succession.
Once the boars held onto the ball they were able to mount some pressure on the Danes, but were unable to convert into points. Marty Burkhardt proved to be handful for defenders every time he touched the ball, which resulted with Tommy Fitzgerald able to get around defenders and put Buster Wilson over for a long range try. Pittsworth took a 12 to 6 half time lead.
A strong start to second half had the boars posting first points with a superb try to Alex Mcgrady in the corner, moments later Alex was denied another try with almost the same play.
The boars discipline and completion rate dropped off and allowed the Danes back in the contest. A miss read in defence had the Danes over for a try and a penalty goal extended the lead. The boars fought their way back and Tom Fitzgerald barged over for a try late in the half. The Danes held on for a 20 to 18 win.

A Grade
The boars travelled to Pittsworth on a very cold Saturday to take on the Danes. Before the boars could settle into the game, the Danes had run in two quick try’s through some soft defence.
With a bit of possession the boars were able to mount an attack and were able to force a few repeat sets. A nice backline play saw Buster Wilson run into the corner untouched to score Goondiwindi’s first try. Towards the end of the half the Danes run in another try.
With the half time siren approaching and the boars on the attack, Davey Armstrong was too quick for his own good as he over ran a grubber kick in goal and almost scored a certain try. The Danes taking a 16 to 6 lead at half time.
The second half saw the Danes take control of the match with all the momentum and field position in their favour. Pittsworth were able capitalise with a couple of try’s. The boars fought back late with Adam Tribe’s kicking game causing all sorts of headaches for the Danes backs and creating many turnovers, Ronnie David was next to score to keep the boars in the contest.
A last play on the siren saw Davey Armstrong put in a downfield kick from the boars own line, the Danes backs thought they had it covered until Davey flew past all the defenders to regather and score a full field try. But unfortunately it wasn’t enough with Pittsworth winning 32 to 16.
