Reggie’s
The Reggie’s got off to a flyer from the opening kick-off on Sunday with a good team performance
The boars were completing their sets and easily going the length of the field with Tom Andersen and Kyle Munro busting the line with nearly every carry. A set play saw the versatile Hayden bussell cross over for the first points of the match. Tom Fitzgerald, Michael Lynn and buster Wilson all crossed in quick succession.
The try scoring bonanza continued in the first half when derrick Craigie gathered a chip kick and put Kyle Munro over and within a few minutes derrick put Davey Armstrong down the side line to score. The boars took a 34 to nil lead at halftime.
The boars seem to fall asleep again in the second half allowing brothers to score a few trys, but once the boars went back to basics the points started to flow again. Jake McCosker and Hayden everingham making his comeback were busy, providing good go forward.
On the back of possession brad frost and Hugh Wilkes crossed for try’s and extended the lead. The last play of the game saw tom Fitzgerald put Davey Armstrong through a gap from a scrum and go the length of the field again to score his second try. The boars running out winners 50 to 20.
A Grade
The boars snuck home with a 24 to 20 win over brothers on Sunday with Ronnie David scoring the match winner with 50 seconds left on the clock.
With a mistake riddled game from both teams, it was brothers who looked the better team in the first half. The leprechauns opened up the scoring but Goondiwindi hit back with Ronnie David crossing for a try out wide.
The match went into an arm wrestle with no team able to make any real ground with penalties and handling errors costing both teams. On the back of penalties brothers got within range were able to put two try’s on and build a handy lead. On the stroke of half time a backline move saw Josh Keoller score on half time to keep the boars in touch. Brothers took an 18 to 10 lead in the sheds.
The intensity picked up in the second half with both teams desperate for the two points on offer. The dangerous Mal McGrady was threatening to break the game open as he constantly tormented defenders with his pace. Josh Keoller went over for his second try and Brandon McGrady beat several defenders to score beside the posts and lock the scores up at 18 all.
The Boars were on top as they had brothers on the back foot but they couldn’t land the killer blow as to many errors stifled their attack. Then with time ticking down a penalty to brothers saw them take the two point conversion and lead.
Levi Wilson had an excellent game at hooker and got the boars the length of the field with two minutes remaining. Ronnie David crashed over from dummy half with a clutch try to steal a win.
