With a must win game to keep them in touch with the top five, the reggies let another close one slide in a physical game. The boars and Gatton had early chances to post first points, but both teams defence held up preventing any points getting scored. Shane O’Brien burst through the defensive line and was cut short of the line, from the following play Jamal Woodbridge scored in the corner from a backline play.
The match see sawed for the next period until a mistake saw Gatton capitalise with a try out wide and with half time approaching the hawks scored again to take a 10 to 4 half time lead.
The second half started with Gatton scoring early, but once the boars had possession they started to put sets together and swing the momentum back in their favour. The elusive Derrick Craigie back for his first game stepped his way through the line and found ben bland in support to score in the corner. Not long after Derrick Craigie had a four pointer of his own after he broke through again and stretched out to close the lead.
But as has been the story so far this year for the Reggie’s, mistakes and penalties crept in to their game in the second half allowing Gatton to score a few late try’s and take the win.

A Grade

The boars continued in the same fashion as the previous rounds with another competitive lose against the Gatton hawks and their monster forward pack. With another intercept try against the run of play sealing the boars fate late in the game.
With an entertaining first half that went try for try, with Ronnie David kick starting the scoring with a backline play down the sideline. Gatton responded when they got close the boars try line with a try from grubber kick to even the scores.
Some nice ball movement saw Mal Mcgrady use his pace to get on the outside of defenders and score under the posts. The hawks responded with another try but the deadlock didn’t last long with Tyrell McCullagh scoring another superb long range try from dummy half.
Gatton crossed for another try just before halftime. The boars blew a game changing moment on the stroke of halftime with Stewart Lowe taking an intercept on halfway and finding Ronnie David in support, but the final pass right before the line didn’t find the mark. The boars took a two point lead at halftime.
The second half continued on from the first half with both teams trading try’s, Gatton struck first before Gundy hit back when Joel Currie dived over for a try.
With the boars on the attack again and with scores level, another intercept try against the run of play turned the game to Gatton’s favour. The hawks then put on a few late trys to take the win.
