In another tough fought game, the boars went down by 10 points in a close one.
It took a while for the boars to acclimatise to the cold windy conditions on Saturday night, with the high ball playing havoc all night. Valleys got off to flyer, with all their try’s coming from kicks and building a 16 to nil lead.
Once the boars settled into the grind and started completing sets they had valleys on the back foot for long periods of time. Once in good field position, a scrum base play saw the ever reliable Will Davis Cross under the posts to put Goondiwindi on the board.
Valleys hit back almost straight away after creating and overlap out wide. With the siren for half time about to ring, Hayden bussell went through the line from deep in the boars own half and found Jamal Woodbridge in support to score in the corner. Scores 22 to 12 at halftime.
The second half saw valleys strike first with a try in the first few minutes of play, then the game changed with the boars having nearly all the momentum in the second half. After a few repeat sets Tom Andersen took on several defenders and scored beside the posts.
The pressure mounted on valleys as they had numerous errors and penalties go against them, which saw a player get sent to the bin for ten minutes. Goondiwindi capitalised when Cal hobday put in a kick for tom Fitzgerald and the boars closed within 4 points.
The boars continued to apply the pressure and once again had valleys defending their own line, but could not crack the try line again. A rare mistake by the boars in the second half saw valleys go the length of field and score and hold on for a win.

A Grade
Goondiwindi started strongly against the undefeated valleys roosters and had all the run from the start, putting pressure on and forcing mistakes. Will carter made a break down the sideline and beat several defenders and scored in the corner to put Goondiwindi in front.
The boars continued to press and valleys could not get out of their own end as simple handling errors cost them field position. Goondiwindi dominated the play for the first 20 minutes but could not convert to points.
Once Valleys completion rate picked up, they found easy metres and were able to run in four unanswered try’s to take a 22 to 4 lead at halftime.
The second half started off competitively with both teams defence holding strong. Valleys scored first in the second half, but Tyrell McCullagh returned fire with a scoot from dummy half to score.
The boars started to struggle with the pace of the game as simple errors and missed tackles cost them possession and found themselves constantly defending. Valleys stamped their authority on the game and put on a few try’s to extend the lead.
Stewart Lowe moved from the forwards to the wing and provided a lot of drive coming out of the boars own end. After a few sets in a row the boars found themselves attacking valleys try line and Hayden bussell scored beside the posts.
Valleys were too good on the day and ran out winners 44 to 14
