Boars vs Souths
A Grade
With perfect conditions in Toowoomba to play football, the boars got their first win of the season with a commanding 82 to 10 victory over Souths.
The boars were on their game from the opening kick-off, bringing enthusiasm and intensity to every contest. It didn’t take long for the before Josh Sullivan went through the line to score the first try of the game and open up a flood gate of points.
Joel Currie and Brandon Mcgrady were controlling the game in the halves with ease, putting runners down the field with easy metres. Both would also cross with their own trys.
Will Carter, Josh Keoller, Tyrell McCullagh and matt Galvin all chimed in the first half to take a 48 to 4 lead at the break.
The onslaught continued in the second half with souths unable to cope with the relentless boars. Matt Gardner moved into the middle of the field and proved a headache for the defence, constantly making breaks and setting up others for trys.
Brandon McGrady soon crossed for his second try and the boars were rolling again. Buster Wilson, Will Davis and Stewart Lowe stretched out to extend the lead even further.
Andrew Hoggart played his best game of the season with some surging runs and crashed over on the final siren to score a hat trick for the day. Brandon McGrady also kicking 13 from 14 conversions to take his tally to 34 points for the day.
The boars take on Oakey this Sunday at home.
Reserve Grade
The Reggie’s continued their winning run going, with what you would describe as an ugly win. The boars started strongly completing their sets early and with good field position scored first through Adam Tribe.
Then after doing it easy early, the boars decided to make it hard on themselves and deviated from team play and structures. Which allowed souths to score twice against the run of play.
Brad Frost put Goondiwindi back in front when he crossed out wide. But this was short lived as errors put them under too much pressure and souths scored again to take a 16 to 12 lead at half time.
After resetting at half time, the Reggie’s got back on track through some good running from under 18 baily Vaughn. Within a few minutes Adam tribe had a hat trick and Michael Offerdahl capped off a good game with a try.
Souths took the lead again after the boars made and error coming out their own end. But the boars fought back and scored late through Jamal Woodbridge to take the win.
